A Word About the University of Spiritwood
Many on-line RPG games today have incredibly deep and rich histories and take place in an ever-changing world where these histories are continuously evolving and being added to. These form the basis of many on-going in-game storylines and plots. A surprising number of players, including established role players, have little or no knowledge of these storylines or even the history of the world in which they live.

It is our belief that by helping to educate these players and integrating them into the storyline as it was meant to exist, we can help increase their enjoyment of the world they have chosen to take part in. The University is designed to help new players get started in Britannia and to promote Role-Playing within the context of the game world.

The basic premise of the University of Spiritwood is to seek out knowledge and educate the player about the world we exist in. This provides a natural mechanism with which to generate quests and immerse the player and his character into the world around him.

As befits a guild of scholars, the University will have and provide access to much information about the world of Britannia, but we will strive to present it in context, and in character, so that it does not spoil the joy and excitement of exploration and discovery for both our members as well as associated guild members. We have developed what is likely to be the most extensive library of player generated books ever assembled in one place in Europa, and this collection is freely available to any and all who wish to come and study it.

The worlds we travel contain many mysteries to be solved, and no doubt, many more to be discovered. You are welcome to join us on our quest for knowledge and enlightenment.

“How can one know where he is going, if one does not know where he has been?”
                                                                                                                ...Faramir Westfall, founding scholar

The Mission statement:

The Spiritwood University is founded on the principle of reaching out the newest generation of visitors to these lands of Britannia. Our main goals are to:
  • Help introduce new players to role playing.
  • Provide "Basic Training" for new players in our lands.
  • Educate players in general in the history, culture and lore of Britannia.
  • Promote and foster the viewing of the UO world from a role playing point of view.
  • Act as a means of generating and aiding in player run quests and events.
  • Assist new players with equipment and training while allowing them the freedom of either joining their guild of choice, or joining as students of the university.
